Connie Yori won the Associated Press’ coach of the year award. And while I keep promising myself I’ll stop looking at reader comments on ESPN.com, I did glance at them for this item about Yori.
Now, people can agree or disagree about whether she should have won the honor. But it’s important to clarify something: We as Associated Press poll voters send in our ballots for the the All-America teams and the coach and player of the year before the NCAA tournament begins.
The ballots this year were due Sunday March 14 … which allowed us to take into consideration the results of conference tournaments, but not the NCAA tournament. I voted for Yori, who at the time had one loss – to Texas A&M in the Big 12 semifinals.
